2015 GEOSET Award

Tallahassee, FL — December 28, 2015:

GEOSET Studios is proud to announce that Aniket Ingrole has been awarded the 2015 GEOSET Award for Scholastic Achievement. “This year’s award is a testament to the outstanding research and diversity at Florida State University. Aniket, an engineering doctoral student is leading the way in the development of new ways to address safety concerns in sports such as football”, said Steve Acquah, Associate Research Professor of Chemistry and Director of GEOSET.

Previous winners include Jess Higgins from Sussex University, who went on to film a pilot for a science news show called Glovebox (https://youtu.be/T78hsEuaq5c), and a LEGO Robotics team from central Florida.

Aniket recently won the Three Minute Thesis competition at FSU with his presentation on, “Bio-Inspired Structures for Custom Manufacturing of Safer Helmets”. He talked about how 3-D printing technology could be used to create materials that mimic animal physiology, which may help to protect humans as they play contact sports including football.
